Resident class visas

Resident visa allows the visa holder to live in New Zealand permanently. You may qualify for a resident class visa under different category. Some commonly explored categories for a resident class visa are Skilled Employment, Business, Investment and Family.

There are two types of resident visa, “resident visa” and “permanent resident visa”. Both of these visas allow the visa holder the same privilege of living permanently in New Zealand, but they provide with different travel conditions. Resident visa generally comes with a travel condition – usually 24 months or in some situations they are valid for up to 10 years.

Upon completion of the term of condition of resident visa, the resident visa holder may then apply for a permanent resident visa (PRV), which will have no time limit on the travel conditions. Which means the visa holders can travel in and out of New Zealand (as a resident) at any time, as long as they have the permanent resident visa (physical label or eVisa) in their valid passport.
